California is a key cannabis market that has been struggling since moving to adult-use sales in 2018. Prior to this, we had a thriving medical market. However, excessive regulations, high taxes, lack of retail stores, and a thriving traditional market have proven challenging even for the best brands and most experienced operators.

To dig into the problems and talk about solutions, I assembled three of the state's most impacted and informed guests. Kyle Kazan and Graham Farrar comprise the senior leadership at Glass House Brands. For an overview of their business, please see this piece I wrote.

Hirsh Jain is the Founder of Ananda Strategy, a consultancy that helps many of California's leading cannabis brands and retailers expand their footprint across the state. Over the past 5 years, Hirsh has entitled more than 40 of California's ~1000 dispensaries in more than 20 cities across the state, including some of California's highest-grossing retail outlets.

We spent an hour covering the challenges of today and what may be the opportunities of tomorrow. Below is a link to the conversation. To listen, click on the tweet and you can play the conversation on any mobile device. Spaces do not work on the desktop.

My next Spaces is Monday, December 19th at 1 pm PST with Nicholas Gastevich. Known as CannaVestments on Twitter, Nick is a long-term cannabis investor and will offer valuable perspective during this difficult period. The interview will be recorded and I will share the link and a summary when it's done.
